Churches of the Group
Howick, St Michael and all Angels
Tucked away off the beaten track in the grounds of Howick Hall, St Michael and all Angels looks like an estate church, but is the parish church of Howick. Its home to a small faithful congregation of villagers, and welcomes thousands of visitors each year, who enjoy its peace and tranquillity.
Alnmouth, St John the Baptist
Keeping watch from almost the highest point in the village, St John the Baptist is home to a congregation where relationships are close, and yet still welcomes visitors with open arms. The present church replaced one which was washed away when the river changed its course during a storm on Christmas Day 1806.
Lesbury, St Mary the Virgin
At the centre of the village, opposite the post office and next to the village hall, St Mary’s plays an important part in village life. The church, where worship is dignified and well-ordered, is well used for weddings and funerals. Members of the congregation are involved in most aspects of village life.
Longhoughton, St Peter and St Paul
Towards the edge of the village, St Peter and Paul serves a large village made up of service personnel from nearby RAF Boulmer, long standing residents, and many who’ve moved here more recently. Children from the village school are frequent visitors to the church, and an increasing number come to the monthly all age service.
Boulmer, St Andrew the Fisherman
On a windy day, you can hear the sea in St Andrew’s, where there is a service once a month. The congregation, like the village, is small, but warm and friendly. The church was originally the village school, and is owned by the Duke of Northumberland.
